Submissions

General Guidelines

The Untold Podcast produces speculative fiction from an orthodox Christian worldview.

All material submitted should reflect a general Christian worldview.
All authors who submit materials should hold to general Christian orthodoxy.
All material should also fall somewhere into the "speculative fiction" genre which includes, but is not limited to science fiction, fantasy, horror, and supernatural fiction.
The Untold Podcast retains no rights to any work after it has been produced.

All submitted material will receive a response within 6-8 months. (If you haven't heard anything in a few months, please send us an e-mail.)

The Untold Podcast is always looking for imaginative stories, original art (for the story covers), and music for our podcast.
Beginning in 2020, we are paying a flat rate of $15 per story, piece of art, featured song, or narration (edited).

Stories

The main part of the Untold Podcast features a short story that's enhanced with sound effects and music. We're looking for the following:

1,000 - 4,000 Words Long
Speculative Fiction
Unique Stories
1 - 2 Sentence "Log Line"

Submitted manuscripts should feature page numbers. Longer submissions will be considered, but please note that because longer works take longer to produce we're looking for high quality stories. And remember, submissions should be stories, not sermons. Stories work implicitly. Love God and just tell the story.

Art Work

The Untold Podcast may feature episode art inspired by the featured story of the month. Artists who are interested in having their artwork featured with the story should contact the Untold Podcast for information on upcoming episodes and art needs.

Flash Fiction

The Untold Podcast also produces flash fiction in its episodes. These stories should have the following:

100-300 Words Long
Speculative Fiction
Complete Stories

Music

Musicians who would like their songs featured at the end of an episode can submit their songs to the Untold Podcast for consideration. While the songs do not need to be speculative in nature (although that would be awesome), they should reflect a general Christian worldview and they should have a beat.

Narration

From time to time we feature guest narrators. If you're interested in narrating an upcoming episode, please contact us with an inquiry and links to previous work. All narrators will be expected to edit their own narration. Additional technical considerations are required. Send us a note.

What We Are Not Looking For

While Untold Podcast is open to exploring a variety of genres and general weirdness, the following types of stories will likely receive rejections (with the exception of phenomenal storytelling):

Conspiracy Theories thinly veiled in a narrative facade.
Political Smear Pieces that set-up straw-man arguments to demonize opposing viewpoints.
Excerpts from larger works. We want our listeners to experience a complete story. If you have a novel you want to promote, consider writing a short companion piece in the same world.
Fan Fiction based on intellectual properties you do not have the rights to.
Gratuitous Content whether language, sex, or violence. We produce some amount of edgy content, but it must serve the overall story.

Writing Help

The Untold Podcast will not do any major editing of submitted manuscripts. If your writing needs work, some wonderful, free information can be found over at Critical Press Media's blog. (Pay attention to issues about plot, and verbs).
